Greater Khorasan and the city of Herat is one of the most important cultural bases of Iran, especially during the Islamic era and the Middle Ages, which has always been the cradle and platform for the cultivation of all kinds of iranian and islamic arts. in the meantime, the area of metalworking and the production of all kinds of functional metal works with high levels and for the nobility and aristocracy was one of the prominent arts of herat, which in terms of technical and artistic dimensions was able to surpass other schools of metalworking in the islamic world, like the centers of western iran (Jazira-e-Arab-Mosul). ) be influential. despite this, herat was neglected as an important pole of khorasan in the field of metalworking. hence, introducing herat metalworking school and technical and aesthetic analysis of four significant works attributed to it is the aim of the article and the main question of the research is: what are the dimensions and technical and artistic components of the studied works of herat? the findings indicate that herat's metalworking center, in addition to influencing other schools in the west of iran (aljazeera-mosul), has new technical and artistic dimensions that were original and unique in its era. production methods include casting, molding, and inlaying (finishing metal work - placing silver or copper metal on the work's background), which is one of the innovative methods used in the production of works of that era. in the decoration section, while using different classes of motifs, narratives and pictorial themes are used for rendering, which include astronomical concepts and themes and twelve forms along with symbols, hunting, music and drinking wine pointed out. this research is of qualitative type and descriptive-analytical research method, it is also a method of collecting library information.
The art-industry of metalworking is one of the most important manifestations of artificial arts, which is an important part of the artistic heritage of Iran, including Khorasan. Herat, especially since the 4th century A.H. and especially during the Seljuk era, is known as one of the most important schools and centers for the production of exquisite metal works in Iran and Khorasan. As some of the works left by this school adorn world-famous museums and collections. In the geography of Greater Khorasan, Herat city has been one of the most important artistic centers and schools of eastern Iran, especially the art of metalwork, during the Islamic period and especially since the Seljuk period. Between the 4th and 6th centuries, Herat's school of metalworking was the source of the production of precious works, which in terms of sophistication and aesthetic values, in the field of artificial arts, are considered as rare works of art. In such a way that the carvings and carvings of all kinds of aesthetic, symbolic and conceptual decorations on the few remaining works of this school are indicative of this matter.
